A fun night indeed

The small, rural suburban Iowa town we live in decided to throw a big party for the 4th. The chamber of commerce planned months for it. And it was all worth it. The band was awesome, the inflatables were very fun, and the food was good too. Even better were the fireworks! It was more expensive than we thought it was going to be because the food, cover, and inflatables were all separate charges. But all in all it wasn't too bad for all the fun we had. Next time we will eat before we go.

We talked to people we knew from our neighborhood that we hadn't talked to in awhile because we have been out of state, or in Cliff's case, out of the country and state. Several off-duty military men walked up to Cliff to see when he got back from Iraq. He spent a good deal of the night talking to people who were curious about his experience in comparison to theirs. There is a lot of camaraderie among men who have served in the same war.

The kids and I boogied to the band and Camden wanted to get on the stage with them. He was quite amused with them. Cliff was not in a dancing mood because his shoulder has been in a lot of pain lately. He may have hurt something, but we don't know yet. If it is still hurting on Monday or Tuesday he has to go back into the surgeon for another look and maybe an MRI.

The craziest thing that happened was that I went on a huge inflatable slide with the boys. I am terrified of heights, so it was scary at first! But I conquered my fear and went three times. I had Cliff (and myself) laughing!

The sweetest thing that happened last night was the friend Camden made. He sat next to her to watch the fireworks, after they ran all around and wore each other out.

Camden wants to do it all over again today. It was a fun 4th of July for us! We are grateful for all the people who work so hard to bring happiness to others. I am grateful for many other things as well. What or who are you grateful for?

Much love to all...
