July 4th Parade

Happy 4th of July! I'm so grateful to have this holiday to celebrate America's Independence from Great Britain in 1776. (Had to look that date up.)

It was a beautiful 4th of July in central Iowa today! We all had a really great time at our local parade this morning. I felt a huge wave of emotion come over me when the parade started to go by us. Everyone was so kind and the parade was very well thought out. It lasted about an hour. It was a very festive time. A friend of Holden's was in the parade with other Boy Scouts and he gave Holden a flag. We sat by a very sweet older woman who was there with her son and daughter-in-law to see her baton throwing granddaughter in the parade. She had not a bad word to say about anything. It was a joy to be next to her. She had health issues and other complaints she could have talked about, but she didn't.

We enjoyed all the children and babies that wanted to pet our dog, Shadow. She did so awesome! She didn't bark at anyone or bite either. Not that we thought she would. We wish we could take her tonight, but we think she'd rather avoid the loud bangs of the night.

Camden is taking a nap and when he gets up we are going to a big party in our town, complete with a band and inflatables. Afterward we will go see the fireworks that are supposed to be very nice again this year. We are extremely excited!

Lots of love from our family to yours,
Heather and family XOXOXO
