Lions, and Tigers, and Chickens--OH MY!

Children's Museum of Houston: A gigantic man made of recycled telephones and wires.

The boys and I at the Houston Zoo. It was a cool and windy Texas day.

WOW! It has been a really busy few days. I am going to try to keep this short though. We had more business in downtown Houston last week. So, while in the area we went to the Children's Museum on Thursday. On Friday, we went to the Houston Zoo. We had a nice time at both places. If we go back downtown again I will be taking them to another favorite place of mine: The Museum of Natural Science.
This weekend their cousin is here and they found a really nice surprise! A neighbor let their young chickens go free last week and it wandered over here. They have been busy with it all day. They are growing very attached to the chicken, Jasmine. Holden has been asking me for a snake or a pet bird the past week. So, this has been so awesome for him. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds. My sister thinks we should take Jasmine (the chicken) home to Iowa with us as a pet when we leave next month. Not sure how fun the drive home (15 plus hours) would be with a chicken?

Cliff is now in the U.S. he has been travelling or in airports/customs for a few days. He is very tired, but happy to be on U.S soil. He will have the next 4 days to rest up, relax, and have some fun before he has to undergo a physical exam and other routine procedures before he can fly home. It could be a few weeks before we see him. But time will go by fast. If gas were not $3 plus a gallon, and other astronomical travel expenses, we would go see him in Mississippi. We are still saving up for his visit to Texas. We're still very excited! He can fly here from Iowa for $35 through name your own price on Priceline.com, and with just one lay over! We are so tickled! I did it by entering $1 as our bid (and not raising our bid on the second screen when it asks to up our bid). I have done this sort of thing before to fly to New York City with my grandmother about 6 years ago to see her ailing sister.
I'm off to see the chicken, the most wonderful chicken of all! (Yes, I know I'm warped by American Pop culture!) Peace and love to all...

Well, the chicken didn't get to stay all night. She is back home. The owners came to claim her. The boys handled it well.

And I wanted to add about priceline. It is great as long as you don't need certain flight times. But the times we've used it the times we were given weren't anything too inconvenient. And the price we got doesn't work for great distances. I did searches for some cool tourist spots that are far away--not possible. :(
