Tonight we went to a Monarch Butterfly tagging event at our local library. It was presented by a county nature preserve employee. He did a fabulous job and we had a lot of fun! If you ever get the chance to go to a tagging event it is rather informative and interesting. We learned the difference between male and female monarchs and about how the tagging works. A small sticker is gently placed on a certain area of one of their wings. The stickers have numbers and info on it that is logged and entered onto a website. If someone finds that monarch somewhere else they can look to that website to see where the monarch was tagged (using the tag number on the sticker). Since tagging began, much has been learned about the monarch butterfly. It is truly fabulous! I wish I had more time to elaborate on our evening and all we learned. We have a busy few days ahead of us. I wanted to get these pics up before I get really busy, and forget about the fun we had tonight. We brought two of the boys' friends along and I think they had even more fun than my kids.
Peace to all and much love....
