All is well here. I am trying to find some sort of balance between staying home and going. This week is going to be a stay home week. I am ill today and have been staying busy here this week. We have had lots of little visitors all week. I don't mind, but then there's dishes, messes, and things that get broken. We've been reading a lot of books from the library and sampling CD Roms. I need to get a part replaced on my car. I'm hoping a neighbor can take a look to see what the exact problem is. Another friend has been gracious enough to offer to fix it--after I buy the part. On Friday we have friends coming over for dinner, and to trim some tree branches that are hitting the roof on the high part of our house.
We have been going on walks to feed the ducks at the lake nearby or to the pond to look for creatures. Yesterday we went with some friends in the rain. It was not a chilly rain, so it was nice to be out. We went on our bikes and that was quite comical. On the way home we stopped to take refuge under various trees along the way.
I try to take things in stride--like all the green along the fence line that looks like a forest that moved in this summer. I started trimming it the other day. I'm ready to just spray poison on it all. The other day Holden made the mistake of messing with a yellow jacket nest that was under ground in a tree stump and got stung a few times on the legs. That freaked Cliff out when Holden told him on the phone the next day. Holden cried like crazy and I held him. I was a bit freaked out myself, but I remained calm.
Cliff tries to call every day for a few minutes. There will be some days (and weeks) he can not call. It is so awesome to talk to him! He uses a calling card to call us. If anyone wants to send me calling cards to send to him, they will come in very handy! I can not call him. Hopefully he will have internet access soon. That would help a lot.
I got a call from the regional (local to me) American Legion office. They are going to put a story in their paper about the donation of a refrigerator to us last week. The contact person invited me to come meet her and told me to spread the word about their services for military families. So, there it is! I spread the word again.
That's just a quick update for now. Much love to all!!!!!
