Life is a highway

Well, we made it to and from Mississippi! All went well and we had a wonderful time!! Our time with Cliff went way too fast! He looks great and we were so thrilled to get to spend his first whole day off of duty (since June 26) with him! He got off around 1pm on Saturday and was off all day Sunday. We went to the beach a few times, did a lot of swimming at the outdoor hotel pool, went to see Transformers, and went to a really yummy buffet at a casino on the beach. It was hard to witness the devastation from hurricanes. The people were very friendly though and laid back. It was not a place I would recommend going right now, and I avoided going through New Orleans on my way to Mississippi. I was glad I did because there is a lot of crime even on the interstate I was traveling on. I heard about an incident (was on the radio as I drove thru Baton Rouge) that happened on the interstate near New Orleans at 4 am the day I left. I left Gulfport at 5 am on Monday and it freaked me out to hear about it. I will skip what the crime was, but it was something sad. We took pictures with Cliff's camera and I hope to have those to share within the next week or so. We just took a few random shots. We tried to stay in the moment and enjoy our time together! He was so awesome with the kids and it made me miss him even more. The reality of our situation (him being deployed for a year) is starting to set in and I am working very hard today at remaining positive.

It was very hard to leave Cliff yesterday, but we were so glad for the wonderful time we had together as a couple and family! We will see him again the end of August. We made it back to my sister, Heidi's before 1pm yesterday.

Today and yesterday the boys have been having fun relaxing and looking for creatures. They are very careful when they look and know what they can and can't pick up. They are not to pick up or touch any spiders without permission since black widows and brown recluses are in these parts. They mostly look for frogs, and they hit the jack pot lately (see pics--one smaller, brown frog is missing--no pics of it)! We spend a lot of time in the back yard. It is my favorite spot to relax. It is so quiet! See my trusty red van next to the house--I have to go buy new front tires and get an oil change this week.

I am planning to take them to The Woodlands Mall tomorrow to see an exhibit with dinosaurs at the Woodlands Children's Museum, and to play at the indoor play area. I am excited and hope the kids have fun. It is about half an hour drive from here vs. an hour or more to other sites in Houston.
Adios amigos and amigas! Thanks for the love and warms fuzzies!
P.S. My hair color is back to normal (mostly). The chlorine and washings took care of it. Hmmm, what to try next? I'm sad because I liked the red! It did make me look younger since it hid the grays that like to stick up on top.
