It was another hot day in paradise, so Holden asked to go swimming. He even picked out which neighbor friends he wanted to invite when they got out of school. We just went down the street and brought very minimal toys...no sand toys or floats. We tried to get a kite up over the water, but the wind kept switching directions and wasn't staying strong enough for us. It was fun to try. It stayed up a few minutes at a time and kept doing tricks. That's a cool way to learn about wind and other weather elements, but we don't talk about it when we're having fun...learning is always just a given!
Not long before that Holden was showing his friends some clay he found along the shore. And after kite flying Holden asked if he could go across the park to a rocky area to look for skipping rocks with his friends. His friends didn't know how to skip rocks so they eagerly learned how. They are a few years older than he is and picked it up easily. I am not coordinated enough to figure it out, so I was proud of Holden's ability to learn so quickly a few weeks ago from a young boy he met at the lake. It was cool to see the kids enjoying themselves so well! Camden had fun tossing any old rock into the lake. He was a happy little man!
We were going to meet a friend and her kids at Gray's Lake today to go swimming, but it was closed down due to all the rain we have had lately. Lots of people have had flooded basements and even some roads have been closed because of the high water. I'm glad we were able enjoy another warm day by splashing in the water. Tomorrow will be about 20 degrees cooler. I am glad because I love the mild weather this time of year.
So now we're home and I wish I had remembered my camera. Such as life I suppose. Another good memory made. Tomorrow we are going to a friend's house to celebrate May Day. I better remember the camera for that.
We found out today that Holden (5) can not walk in the 5K with me. He usually rides his bike while I walk and he doesn't have the stamina to keep up with me. We were sad when we found this out after our walk today. But I registered for the walk today and he will be getting a shirt. It was only $2 extra. I am excited and will be walking my butt off for the next few weeks to prepare. I don't want to look like a fool.
Cliff and I have talked a few times today. He sounded bored, but is hopeful to find some guys to bond with at his training class in California. He wants to go site seeing like he did last time he was there for training in August. We wish we were there with him and he wishes we were there too. We could have planned it better so we could have gone.
Well as you can tell we are not bored here this time of year and I am so grateful winter is way behind us!!! Camden (2.5) is pushing me off here to play Reader Rabbit. He learned how to use the mouse this weekend and he is getting really good at Reader Rabbit. I better fly now...smiles to all!
