We got here yesterday evening and we are loving the weather! We stopped at many rest areas on the way. It was awesome to see spring time come alive as we traveled south bound from Iowa. As we hit Texas it was mostly green and the flowering trees and shrubs are in full bloom. It was 80 degrees here when we arrived. I'm not sure how warm it is right now but I would guess near 80. We have lived outside most of today. We went to the park and I went on a few mile bike ride during Camden's naptime. It may rain the next few days. Holden and Camden are really enjoying it here and their cousin, Robbie (10) is not sick of them yet. My sister, her husband, and Robbie were outside on the driveway when we pulled in at 5pm yesterday. It was so wonderful to finally be here after two full days of driving. I got three hugs when we got out of the car. We have been spoiled so far. They filled up my gas tank last night and fed us a wonderful meal last night. I slept better than I had in ages last night. I'm so glad to be here and it was worth the terribly long drive. At least the kids did better than I had thought they would. The first day was not too bad. But the second day they were ready to just be here!
I talked to Cliff yesterday and an unschooling friend's husband and son helped Cliff paint at our house for half the day yesterday. I was so relieved and I feel so grateful! Cliff was tired but he was in good spirits. Thank you friends and Cliff for your hard work! I can't wait to see the house. Soon after we get back I will be putting the sign in our yard to sell the house. It is with mixed emotions, but for the best.
Other interesting news: An unschooling friend in our area has offered to make a trade with us (see our other blog, a bus 4 a bus). She has a glass case of antique Japanese dolls (15?) to trade. I am excited. She has offered to keep the case of dolls at here house until someone wants to make a trade with us. When I get back home in a few weeks I will update about that.
I'm feeling so grateful to be here and know it will do wonders for me and the kids! I'm sure it will be more spring like when we get back! This weekend in Iowa I think it was supposed to be in the 50s! I was almost sad to leave when I found this out but the morning we left it was dreary and rainy. I cried almost the whole way to Missouri and then the sun came out and my mood improved. Things seemed more positive and I felt relieved to be on the road. Cliff came home from work Thursday night to see us off. It was really hard to say goodbye. Every car we saw that looked like Cliff's the kids said something about it. Holden missed his dad right away. They haven't seen him a full weekend in at least a month. The weekend we get back he should be home for two days.
Well my brother, Kris (18) just got here and I am anxious to talk to him. Take care all!! (please ignore my typos...)
