Happy Halloween

Last night was our night in Iowa to go door to door, due to a long standing Iowa tradition of going on the 30th. It was quite windy and chilly, but they still had fun with their dad and a friend who cried to tag along. I stayed home to pass out candy to the 50 or so kids who came by to brave the wind. Shadow helped me greet all the little ghouls, and she even ran out once to befriend a canine friend on the street, nearly giving me a heart attack. Camden decided to wear his spider costume again this year. He had a really nice Superman costume he choose not to wear.

This year we carved designs into the pumpkins. Holden helped scape all the seeds out and delighted me with his silliness. Both boys picked out the designs from a book we bought with carving tools. I carved one Thursday and finished the second one on Friday afternoon. We baked the seeds on Thursday night. I tried a new recipe and I was the only person who liked them. Last night I pleasured in sharing the seeds with the ratgirls. They loved them and Goldie adored hoarding them. I'm really glad I didn't try to do it all on Friday, because it was a lot of work. The pumpkins turned out nicely. I am not sure I will do that again next year, although all the trick or treaters were impressed with my carving skills. I am planning to make the pumpkins into food now before the squirrels make them their food!

Happy Halloween and love to all!
