Nightmare on Candlewood Street

We have had several bids on our kitchen and been to Home Depot to get estimates on cabinets/countertop. This is a lot more pressure than I expected. There is a sale going on right now for decent oak cabinets at Home Depot which is saving us $550. It ends next week. Decisions, decisions. I still want to go to Lowe's to get estimates.

Our current kitchen is the real nightmare. I keep trying to remind myself it will all work out. It is a little daunting because we have never remodeled a kitchen. At least we are keeping it very simple! If I had time I would upload the drawings we have. But I am scanner incompetent. That is an understatement.

The fridge is being moved to the far left of the kitchen by the basement door. Pretend the door is to the left of this photo. The sink is being moved to the corner. The stove is being moved to the right about a 1.5 feet. And we are adding a dishwasher where the sink is now. Cliff and I came up with this plan. The drawings are beautiful that we have been given with our design in mind. We have a small kitchen, as you can see. And we only have two drawers right now. Ouch.

All of this is a learning experience and the real fun hasn't even started. Our boys are going to see first hand what can be done, if you really put your mind to it. We'll be doing the tear out and installation of all cabinets. We'll have an electrician install the dishwasher wiring. And we will get some help with the counter tops. Of course, it is going to take about 6 weeks for the cabinets to be made and we haven't ordered them yet.

This is all very exciting and scary as heck, too!

Fun, fun! It's always nice when it's all done and you feel that wonderful sense of accomplishment:)

I am so excited and hope this kitchen is not going to kill me. LOL. I'm always so excited when we start something and then get a little overwhelmed in the middle. But yes, once it is done, it is awesome! We resided our house and re-did the basement. Those were two long and scary projects. I thought they would be the end of my marriage. LOL. But we recovered and love what we did. It all paid off.
