Winter time blahs?

Here are a few photos from our week. It has been colder here in Texas and dreary, but tolerable.

The dark days of winter and cool, gray days make me want to stay in bed and hibernate. Both boys have been more tired and cranky than normal as well. I always thought it was just the cold Iowa winters, but I think it is just winter in general that makes us feel this way.

Speaking of cranky moments both boys are fighting and bed time must be looming. I think we will go cuddle and read a book in a bit. Other than trying to shake the winter time blahs we are doing great and finding lots to keep us busy and interested in new things. I am still reading "Walden" and I have been trying to walk, bike or exercise at least 20 miles a week for stress relief and to lose weight. At the least over the past few months I have done at least 10 miles a week. I am really proud of myself and the boys for their support! It is a group effort with my sister and her husband as well. I get a lot of help here I wouldn't have built in at home with Cliff in Iraq.

We went to an awesome park called 7 Acre Wood last week! Holden fell in love with a very tame chicken. It was a fabulous day and we made a lot of friends. I have photos on my camera, but I can't upload them at my sister's without my software. The photos I have uploaded here were taken with her camera. The park has a farm yard, zip line, mini golf, wooden play equipment, a beached boat, and a yummy snack bar. Holden really wanted to take a chicken home! We had a long talk about why we couldn't get one right now. We went on a Tuesday and it was all homeschooled kids and moms. All the kids, moms, and staff were wonderful and it felt like our own little fairy tale island. We'll be going back in a few weeks.

We are counting the days for Cliff's homecoming from Iraq. He is itching to get home! I am grateful to be with family and we are managing much better than expected. We may be here a lot longer than expected. All my Iowa friends and neighbors tell me I am so lucky to be in a warmer place. It has been very cold there. I miss my Iowa!

Sending out lots of love to all!!!

Great pictures! Your boys are adorable!

Great job on all the exercise! You should be proud of yourself.

I am so glad to meet someone else who willingly reads Walden. I love that book!

It must be so hard with your husband in Iraq! I can't even imagine. I hope he comes home soon!
