Holden, meet Harry

Holden is growing up so quickly. He'll be six in December! We've really enjoyed getting back to the libraries we visit. After much consideration I asked him when we were at the library today if he would like to read a Harry Potter book. Knowing about HP from movies, he was interested but asked me to read some of it first to be sure. We were both hooked after one page! I read 25 pages of it to him on and off today.

I'm amazed at how many interesting questions he comes up with. We learned about Sea Monkeys today. A friend of his has Sea Monkeys and that prompted many questions tonight. We did a search on the internet and learned they are actually brine shrimp. Somehow they are preserved into crystals and come alive and grow after being poured into water. They can live for about 2 years. Both boys want Sea Monkeys now.

Today Holden spelled S-O-R-D to me in the car and asked me what it spelled. I told him nothing, but it almost spells sword. He smiled and said I know that is what I was trying to spell. He rattled off more letters to me. A few days ago he wrote down some letters on paper and asked me what he spelled. It spelled nothing, but I thought it was so cool he was trying. He wasn't frustrated but excited and full of life. I never criticize him. I just try to applaud him for trying and show that I am proud of him no matter what. I know he is learning in his own way. And I happen to think it is awesome and interesting to see his mind work. He's my very own little magician! He and Cam make me so proud to be their mom.

I have many rants I would love to share, but I will save them for another day or lifetime. Right now I just want to savor these precious times with my kids. We are all healthy, loving the season we're in, and excited to be alive! We went on a two mile adventure today. It made a world of difference for me and we had a great day. The time went so fast. The kids played with friends tonight. And Camden fell asleep on the couch while Holden and I watched a movie. It was nice. The only thing missing was Cliff!

Off to bed I go! I am going see Cliff's mom in the hospital tomorrow. She is still not doing well. Peace to all!!!

I am so happy to know you are out there! I miss reading about your days. But I understand!!!

I like to write about our life so my kids can look back at their younger years and so can I. Plus Cliff can read about what we're doing. I don't always get to share everything with him on the phone, in letters/emails, or when he is here in person. Of course, there are many struggles and situations I leave out. Some are comical!!
