Home sweet home

We made it home safely yesterday after a two days of driving from Mississippi to Iowa. Wow! That was amazing and very tiring! But we are glad to be home too. It is sunny, GREEN, and beautiful here. It was about 60 degrees when we woke up this morning--much cooler than Texas and Mississippi in the morning. We had a house full of kids of all ages yesterday to welcome us home. The Qwest guy even came last night to fix our phone which was knocked out by a storm earlier this month. I was so glad! A neighbor came over to figure out why my computer wasn't working---and wa la here I am!

I just wish I could find my battery charger! My camera batteries are dead and I can't upload any pics. I have so much to do...get a frig and get Cliff's car out of the driveway. It has a major flat tire. And I have some tall unwanted trees growing near the deck and grass needing to be mowed. So instead of stressing about all that the kids and I are headed to a picnic with some friends! We have been looking forward to it all summer: 3rd Annual Not Back to School Picnic! We don't school at home but unschool--so it is a neat thing to attend every year.

Holden would be in kindergarten this year is we were of the traditional mind. But what is traditional anyway??? To me this is how it should be and was for many centuries before schools. Kids actually learn more efficiently in the real world of life. This morning we spent some time Googling questions Holden had during our trip home: Why are Swamps Green?; Where do Sea Shells come from?; Why do snakes have venom? He wanted me to write down the answers so he could show them to his friends and their parents. Instead I printed them on our printer and we put them in a notebook for his future reference and so he could show his friends.

So, did any of you know armadillos rolled into balls? Google that one sometime to see a pic. Holden was the one that informed me of this fact. I grew up in Texas and didn't remember learning that tidbit.

Well off to our picnic now! Oh, we had a great time with Cliff in Mississippi, by the way! He is being deployed on September 7, to God knows where. He can't tell me or anyone else. Next time I'll be back with pics and more details about our travels.

Peace and hugs to all!
