Some TLC

The week started out awesome! Monday was a lovely, warm day so in the morning we headed to Gray's Lake. Holden rode his bike while I pushed Camden in the stroller around the 2 mile bike path that circles the lake. It was the best seeing all the friendly dog walkers, couples, bikers, and joggers--all except I forgot to stretch and I had to stop a few times to do so. I'm working my way up to doing a three mile walk as fast as I can for a 5k walk/race coming up in the town I live in. Two miles doesn't wind me but I am not really that fast. Well I had a stroller to push though. A friend called to see if we wanted to go on a bike ride on Weds. and I was sad b/c we were sick! She has an extra bike I have used before when we go.

So the rest of the week was lovely but then Camden and I have been slightly under the weather. Camden worse than me. I have been giving him lots of TLC and he wakes up a lot at night for water. I debated on taking him to the doctor (midwife/CNP) today and even made an appt. yesterday for today. He seems better today though. My TLC paid off! He still nurses and for that I am glad b/c it saves a lot of unnecessary doctor visits and prescriptions.

Holden was slightly sick (I think) or tired from the 2 mile bike ride. But he came home and took a nap. He was fine afterward. He has been going non-stop all week almost: riding his bike or scooter, playing with friends, collecting rocks, helping me with Camden, playing with his rock collection, cutting/splitting rocks, watching movies, building rock castles, playing on the computer, and helping the neighbor smooth a dirt hill. We broke down and finally bought another vacuum cleaner and mop last weekend. We had fun trying those out this week. The house sure looks cleaner now! It is so funny to see boys interested in cleaning. It is not just for girls as some may think. New tools make it cool too. I also splurged and purchased a new kitchen sponge that dispenses soap from a handle. There is a button to push so a drop of soap comes out onto the dishes. Holden thought it was so awesome he was the first to use it.

I started cooking last night for the weekend. Cliff will come home tonight and I wanted to surprise him with some yummy stuff. We are going to try to go on another date on Saturday. I think I should be up to it by then.

We really miss having Cliff here everyday. Over the months Holden has asked me daily when his dad is coming home. So in January or February we started looking at a calendar and marking off days with an X which Holden does. We talk about days of the week and what days he comes home. We put hearts on the days he will be home. I figured that is cool way to learn about the calendar. We talk about the seasons too. Holden wants to know when we will go swimming at the pool. I tell him it is still spring and when summer gets here that is when the pools will open. Camden is learning lots too. At night time he comments on it being dark and night time. In the morning he says it is morning. I love it! Camden picked out some books at the library the other day. As soon as we went he picked out 5 books all by himself without my help or telling him to. He has enjoyed cuddling on my lap while we read. He is a bundle of energy and questions even when he is sick! He never stops asking questions. He is a joy...tiring sometimes but a joy.

Although I have been a little cranky this week Holden told me I am a nice mommy. He also told me I was a mean mom a few times b/c I wouldn't buy some jewelry he picked out for me at a store. I know I am loved. Happy weekend all! Camden is waiting to play a game with me...no time to spare. :~)

Great thing to do with the calendar. I was doing that (marking the days off) when I went vegan for a month. Tristan got so used to looking up and being able to see, right away, what day it was that he asked me to keep doing that. So now everyday we mark the calendar at the end of the day so Tristan knows what day it is :)
