Future unschooling family on the road....

Most people we have told about our full-time traveling plans with the kids have been supportive and happy for us. Yet, they were curious about a few things. For instance, how we'll school the kids. We plan to homeschool or unschool. We love learning with them now and we're thrilled about the opportunity to learn with them for many more years to come. This is not a lifestyle for everyone. This is a lifestyle for us though. See "My Favorite Links" on the left side of this page, if you want more detailed info on unschooling or traveling with children. There are also plenty of books on unschooling too, if you are interested. Anything by John Holt is very helpful and fascinating.

And, in our not so humble opinion, there's no better way to learn and experience geography, earth science, art, history, reading, math--and all the other things schools like to categorize--than thru real life adventures. Why not live on the seat of our pants like Huck Finn? Why should life have to be like the movie, "Groundhog Day?" Thank goodness this is still a free country and we have lots of wonderful choices. We reserve the right to change our minds at any given moment, of course!

We are very excited about our life decisions. We're o.k. with being unconventional. It works for us. This blog is to keep you up-to-date on our life adventures, not to be openly criticised. We understand not everyone will be excited for us. That's fine too. Everyone has the right to have concerns and worries. Just keep in mind, Cliff and I have always been the type to take risks and worry about the consequences later. We've learned a lot of valuable life lessons in the school of hard knocks. Why would we change our game plan now?

Happy travels all,
Heather
