On Wednesday we woke up to a lot of ice on everything. It was pretty to look at, but not fun for adults to walk around on. Now the kids on the other hand, thought it was a blast to skate around on. The snow we had on the ground from the past few months worth of snow had a thick layer of ice on it. The boys found sticks to use as poles to drive into the snow so they could walk upright on the slippery snow. It made me nervous to watch them, but they had a good time anyway!
We lost some small branches and I had a hard time sleeping worrying about falling trees and branches or losing power. But that is over and I am sooo glad! We heard a small branch fall and brush the side of the house on Wednesday night and it rattled the house so much that Cliff came running upstairs to check on the boys while they were in bed. I was so surprised by the crashing sound and ice breaking that I was frozen.
The ice is almost all melted now and it is supposed to warm up to the 40s tomorrow. With the 1-2" of rain predicted I imagine most of our snow will melt away. I am sad about that because I prefer the snow over a muddy and brown ground any day.
I took a few photos on Thursday and a video of the melting ice today around our yard to remember the storm. It felt like the sky was falling this afternoon! You can hear the ice falling all around me. The sidewalk to our front door is covered in ice cube looking chunks.
The temps were not bad out so both boys enjoyed playing outside in our yard for a few hours two days in a row. That is unheard of for Camden! It was their idea, not mine. I love those boys!!!
