There is a huge Ferris wheel we can see in downtown Houston when we have driven that way, which is about once a year the past 5 years. It wasn't there when I was a kid or teen. We were in downtown a few months ago and I thought it would be neat visit the Aquarium it is associated with. I got lost instead. We happened to be downtown on Friday and I made another attempt to locate this small amusement park. I couldn't find it and I was looking for a parking spot I could use with the Downtown Hopper parking ticket I paid for. With the Hopper you can park downtown all day for $6, but you have to move your car every two hours. It was great! I found a Hard Rock Cafe and I thought that would be neat to visit. Cliff and I had been to the one on Kirby Lane many years ago and the one downtown was a new one. In the process of looking for a parking spot I drove past the Aquarium. It was three stories tall and had a giant dolphin water fountain in front (plus the huge Ferris wheel on another side). Both kids' eyes almost popped and they wanted to go there instead! So where do you think we went?
It was $50 for us all to get in, but it was an awesome time!!! We could have gotten in free if I had a zoo membership, as I normally do! We rode a train twice around the 7 acre complex and through a huge shark aquarium. It was a nice, sunny day to do this. It was cool, windy and cloudy in the morning and thankfully it warmed up to the 70s in the afternoon. When we drove up two school buses were leaving. We were able to see all the exhibits and ride all the rides twice. Both boys petted sting rays (stingers were removed), horse shoe crabs, and small sharks. There were some amazing creatures to see. If we had not been downtown for another matter, we would not have made a special trip there. It was somewhat overpriced, in my opinion. We still had a great time and the facility was very decent and newer. It would have been a different situation had it been crowded or too hot.
When Cliff gets we here we hope to go to Moody Gardens in Galveston (which is a much better investment than the Downtown Aquarium for the price). It has three huge glass pyramids, lots of creatures to see, an IMAX, and also a paddle boat ride I am excited about. There's also a water park at Moody Gardens that opens in May. It looks really fun. Too bad we won't be there then. If it works out we will visit a wild life refuge area as well. There's an indoor water park that will be open when Cliff gets here which we hope to visit. I am working hard to look good in a new bathing suit I hope to buy soon. My old one got ruined last summer by not washing or rinsing the chlorine out. We are living very frugally and not doing much, so we can afford some of these things. We hope it works out!
Much love to all...

My favorite aunt lives in Galveston and owns the bed and breakfast called the Pink Villa. It's on the streetcar line and it's a VERY pink villa. If you pass it, wave to her for me and Lily!
How awesome! I will wave for sure!!! Lucky for her!! I love visiting Galveston Island!!!
