April flurries

We actually had some snow flurries here yesterday. Iowa weather has been all over the place the past month....from warm and sunny, dreary, to somewhat coldish and windy again this week. It is supposed to be a high of 39 on Saturday and 50 on Sunday. It's in the 20s this morning and somewhat windy.

The kids are back to feeling cooped up and my ears are super sensitive right now because of my cold. But I know this will be one of the last cold snaps. Seeing tulips start to bloom this week tells me I am right! I need to get some pictures of our bursting spring on a sunny day. It has been mostly cloudy all week though.

Cliff is coming home tonight after work. He has been going and going for a few weeks and will be working next weekend for the Navy, so he is calling in sick tomorrow. It was his idea and I am so proud of him for getting better at calling in sick when he needs a day off. We have a date planned for Friday or Saturday. We actually have a sitter lined up (not sure of our date plans yet...LOL). Our next door neighbor (12) has her babysitting certificate and her almost 7 year old sister is coming to help. They have been helping me with the kids a lot lately. I never really considered her help before until she came over to talk to me when I returned from Texas. Her family has been more supportive of us lately since I lost the baby in February.

We haven't done a whole lot this week. Not as much as I would have liked. The weather was quite blah and we stayed in a lot. We went to family night at the library on Tuesday and that was fun. It was an Easter theme with an Easter craft afterward. There were lots of families and a few we knew. The eye doctor appt. was the most fun though. Both kids had fun watching the nice optomologist examine my eyes. He explained everything he was doing to Holden (5) because Holden asked questions and was very interested in everything. Camden went in and out of the examining room to flirt with the women in the waiting room. Holden stuck to me like glue. It was cool and the place was not that busy. Everyone commented on how "good" the boys were. They are always so fun to take places. Although when they started running in circles when I was paying, I got a little stressed and frazzled. The 20 and 30 sommething folks there didn't seemed to mind their energy. I was glad to see people who don't mind kids being seen and heard. Sometimes at the library old men get grumpy when they are loud and energet (normal boys). Camden (2.5)hasn't totally learned quiet and no running in certain public places yet.

On the way to the eye appt. we stopped at my sister in-laws. It was a surprise visit. Luckily she was home and we got to see the new baby, David. I didn't hold him because of my cold but I wanted to. He is adorable!! He looks like his dad right now, which was a surprise because she has 2 girls who look just like her. Camden thought he was a cute baby too. He sat next to him and smiled at baby Dave several times. It was precious. Holden was more interested in cartoons and eating the snack she gave them.

We are going to cook a ham on Sunday and other than that I am not sure what else we will do as a family. It should be a relaxing weekend--or at least fun! Happy Easter to those who celebrate it!! I hope it is springy wherever you are and you are surrounded by those you love!

I haven't received my contacts yet, but I had a dream about cleaning them last night. I need to make time to exercise today as I took it easy yesterday. I borrowed a Pilate's DVD from the library on Monday and I may try it again today before I have to take it back. It was a nice workout and made me push myself. Once I feel I have reached some goals, made regular exercise a habit, as well as not stress eating, I will back off a little. Change is hard for me.

I attached some pics from the other day. Every so often the kids will ask to use the camera to take my picture. Holden took these of Camden and I--I took the other pics. Hopefully I'll get some pics of our gorgeous spring soon! :~)

Hey, wishing you the best with exercise and contacts! You can do it. (You know we are probably the same age.)
