TGIF

Today ended our second week without a car. This morn a neighbor drove the kids and I over to the transmission shop to get Cliff's car. It was nice to be able to buy groceries and such. Although I hadn't driven Cliff's old beater in awhile and when he mentioned his car door doesn't shut, he wasn't kidding! I had to lift it from the outside and slam it, then climb in on the passenger side. The kids laughed at me! We've had this car awhile and it is only about 10 years old and it beats car payments. So every 3 or more years we dump a little money in it and then beat the heck out of it again. Same with my minivan.

I have a lot to post about but not a lot of time at the moment. One big thing that happened this past week which has caused a lot of upheaval is that Cliff is most likely going to be sent to Iraq in July--the same month the baby is due. He was told this news last summer and so we have kinda known but hoped it wouldn't pan out.

We are going to use some of our tax money to get some help painting our house. We found a professional who is going to work for REALLY cheap. He is a teacher part time at DMACC. He used to be a contractor for a living. So I hope that speeds things up with getting our house ready to sell. I am looking for a way to get on the road next month for a bit with the kids. We have cabin fever and I would like to do some fun (cheap) things before the baby is born. But we'll see. Cliff hopes once he is done with this job is is on he can live on his unemployment and we can have some much needed family time. We don't know what will happen.

We have been staying busy at home and feeding the hungry birds, rabbits and squirrels as well. The past few weeks have been miserably cold!! We hope to see some warmer weather soon! This past week we have all had cold/coughs too. Yuck! Hope you're all healthy and have a happy Valentine's Day this coming week!! Much love to all.

P.S. We had an offer to trade the tent/raft for a 1960s 16 hp boat motor. But we are still trying to decide...we are also in the middle of settling an ebay dispute with someone who thought they could buy the raft/tent for .01 even though it is listed as FOR TRADE ONLY. They are being super ugly. I can't believe someone could be so cruel as to try to steal our little dream. Hehehe!

Heather, I don't want to sound negative at all but are you checking on the worth of these trades? I think that tub you traded would have been worth around $3,000 but I could be off. I wouldn't think that a 1960's motor would be worth more than the tent/raft either. It seems that you are trading down in price rather than up. Just thought you might want to check it out so you are not going the wrong direction.

Ouch! You hit the nail on the head. The tub was worth about $200. And the rest of the trades have been either the same or less. But the boat motor is worth less for sure. It is worth about $150 but not in demand so not really a good trade. I have learned a lot about trading this past year. It is hard work. Thanks for your insights. :~)

Then you just gotta hold out for those trades that are worth more; they will come around. I think you have a lot on your plate right now and probably need to focus on being healthy and getting your house completed. Everything will fall into place, as it should be. I will continue sending good thoughts and energy your way!

It is hard to be patient on those good trades. But I know they'll come...

Thanks for all the love vibes. We appreciate it. We are going through a nightmare here.

Wow. You are going though a ton right now! Try to not let it all get to you...the ebay thing is so minor compared to everything else you have to deal with right now...I don't see why people have to be so mean....I sure hope your hubby doesn't have to go to Iraq...you'll be in my thoughts...Be well....

Been so busy enjoying the lovely weather, haven't had time to read. I hope your hubby doesn't have to ship out. I went through that with my dad and hubby. Not the most pleasant experiences.
