Pony Boys

We had reservations today for Holden to ride a pony at Jester Park Equestrian Center/Stables. The whole way there Camden asked to ride a pony too. He tried telling me he was big. We kept telling him he had to wait until he was bigger.

This is Maddy with Holden. Maddy's owner is Rennis and the one who led her. Maddy is a mama horse and loves babies and children. Maddy has a 6 month old foal. Rennis is the director of the E.C.

There were three barn cats. We saw two of them and they liked to be petted. Camden got all dusty from climbing on the rails in the E.C. We walked around and loved on horses and the cats part of the time while Holden was on his pony ride. It kept Camden from being so impatient.

One of the horses in the stables we got to pet.

Maddy, Rennis, and Holden after he was done. He asked to ride her again.
We will be going back again for sure.

Camden's patience paid off. Rennis told him he could ride Maddy when Holden was done. That kept him happy for a bit. Both boys had to wear a riding helmet. Maddy was such a sweet and gentle giant.

Camden riding Maddy. He made a lot of racket about riding her and as soon as he got on her he was totally silent and calm. He made sure to hold onto the saddle horn the whole time. He and Holden seemed to be natural and poised horsemen. Rennis was taken by them. I have to say I was too.

Here's Camden very relaxed from the motion of Maddy walking.

Visiting Maddy's sweet foal.
She let the boys pet her and she was as gentle as her mom.

This is a picture I took while stopped in the car on the way home. It was sleeting. Right now it is snowing at our house. Quite a contrast from sunny 60 and 70 degree temps we had this week.

See the sleet (ice) on the windshield? It was a little bit chilly inside the equestrian center, but not nearly as cold as outside. It was a nice place to escape the wind and bleak day. We can't wait to go back! Cliff (daddy/hubby) says he wants to go with us next time.
