After the awesome weather we had yesterday (and icky weather coming), I knew we'd better go somewhere fun today. A few highlights of our morning at the Happy Apple Orchard in Norwalk, Iowa:
-Showing the boys how to drink from honey sticks (small plastic tube filled with honey)
-Owner telling us to sample some apples while we picked our apples to take home.
-Running thru endless aisles of trees sagging with apples...looks like a bumper crop after all the rain this summer.
-Seeing a blue heron by the pond at the orchard.
-Holden climbing an apple tree and eating an apple off the tree while he enjoyed looking around from above.
-Looking for the pumpkin patch.
-Finding it and thinking all the pumpkins were picked only to look closer to see ripe, dark green pumpkins peeking out from under their green foliage. We'll go back for a pumpkin another day.
-Holden finding a butterfly to befriend.
-Watching Camden try to snatch his own butterfly...zig zagging all over the place and laughing.
-Holden seeing an ornamental bear and saying, "mommy is that a real bear?" It looked real at first.
-Holden taking the empty plastic bag we bought for our apples and filling it up. He loved it!
-Seeing the harvested, brown corn and soybean crops on our way there and back.
-Driving past an Arabian horse farm I didn't know was in Norwalk (in the country).
-Walking past smiling workers harvesting apples for the orchard.
Happy fall all!!!
