Horsing around in Story City, Iowa

After a fun filled day with the Buxcels at their campsite, Karen suggested we all headed over to the nearby Antique Carousel in Story City. What a fun idea! It's Iowa's most unique antique carousel and it was built in 1913. The pony tails of the horses looked like real strands horse hair! One of my favorite things was the 1936 antique band organ the music was generated on. See the photos. One of the photos shows the music roll.

Holden, Saylor, and Stone rode a round spinning seat on the carousel. I thought for sure Holden would cry or get sick but he didn't! Camden rode the pig and then a horse and loved the carousel! It was a memorable time for all with lots of smiles.

Afterward the kids played outside by the tennis courts and then headed to the well equipped play ground with lots of large shade trees. After a long time there we lured them away by mentioning we were going to McDonald's for ice cream next.

Lots of cute things happened. One of my favorites was when Saylor (7) asked his parents if they could spend the night at our house. The other cute thing was when Saylor and Stone wanted to ride in our van to the carousel. It made us feel so special! These pictures don't give the Buxcels or the day justice. But in our hearts and minds we'll always see these kids just as they are: PRECIOUS, FUNNY, KIND, LOVING, GENTLE, SMART, and beyond!

What a wonderful end to a wonderful day!! Thanks again Buxcel Family!!!! We know we'll see you all again!!!
