Rising waters

When we go over a bridge these days it is hard not to gawk at the water levels. This is not a good a photo but the water is at the middle of the trees here. Many homes in Iowa and the midwest are flooded. We feel so grateful our house has been safe so far. We see a lot of homes in the area with wet carpet on their curbs to throw away. And some people have yards, driveways, or garages full of belongings from their wet basements. We are keeping our fingers crossed that our new basement carpet stays dry. What a nightmare.

This is the boat marina in our neighborhood. I drove past it last week in total awe, because the 20 or so pontoon boats usually there after May were all gone. And obviously the boat docks are under water along with the fishing dock. You can see a fishing bench above on the bottom right of the photo.

Imagine my surprise when I saw all the boats beached on the swimming shore. That must have been a lot of work for the neighborhood association the morning after the storm last week which caused this to happen.

We have more rain in the forecast this week. Today is a bright sunny day!!! Hope you are safe and dry and not too hot!! XOXOX
